Past Birthdays and Yummy Desserts!

WAAAAAAAAAAAA! Doesn't it just bring you JOY  by just looking at these yummy oh-so-delicious desserts? It certainly brings me over-the-moon type of joy! It will SO make my day or weekend! I bet you are wondering...Did xiao make this? wah suddenly so good already? Sadly to tell you I have yet to reach this level yet...still far away to be exact...but imma working hard towards it! everyday! at least I try =). But isn't it just wonderful if I could do all these and spread joy to everyone like when I had my share of these dessert? I wish to achieve this one day, to bring happiness to your little taste buds and forget the not-so-little calories as well =). I had these in Delicious..I bet everyone had...just a little treat for my mommy and sister for their birthday...hahaha my sister was saying I'm happier getting these treats then they were..quotes It's like it's your birthday more than mine..hahaha..shows you how excited I was =)! But ya it was SO GOOD!

And yes we did have a birthday cake as well! No I didn't make the cake, but due to the fact that an ACCIDENT has happen to the beautiful cake, I had to SAVE it! OMG stress..........some of you might heard about it..Nevertheless it survived and I did some deco onto it to hide the flaws ^^ hehe! The cake was still amazingly yummy tiramisu cake, best that I've had. It cost a little atomic bomb though but it was worth it! Thanks to my brother-in-law =).

CNY Celebration and such~!

Hiya! =) Yes though it was long ago but I have finally found the motivation for me to upload it! Thanks to those who keeps reminding me "habuk" is accumulating! You know who you are =) I just realised more people read my blog than what I expected. AWW Thank you all for the support! Here are the some stuff that I have been hiding "hehe".

 

Due to the fact it was the CNY *joys over food* and Valentines day on the same day this year, I'd made treats for friends and family who came to visit! =) First picture is blueberry cheese tarts! Not so conventional as you always see in bakeries, mine has a little heart on the top! cute for valentines eh ^^. and the rest are just some cupcakes that I put up =) so everyone would have a sweet first day of CNY besides all the cookies.

I have a thing for tarts and pastries. Aren't they just cute! and less messy haha! Lalala in to your mouth it goes =). I made mini one since everyone is less "healthy" during this festive season haha. I hope everyone had a great new year! I know I did *winks* ^^.

Mini Mandarin Orange Tartlet =)

Yay! I know finally I'm back! Sorry! =) hehe...I can't believe how much effort it takes to actually get yourself started to write up a blog..but once you start it's not that hard . Well anyway I did continue making food just that been lazy to upload it all up..Well these was one of my work before the CNY celebration! yay! It looks so CNY yeah? Mini mandarin orange tartlets yum yum, filled with orange custard.

Due to the abundance of "kam" everywhere during this festive time, why not just use it! Plus it's a lot cheaper than buying all those imported fruits, but they are all so pretty though. Mini size pastries are my favourite! One bite and TADAA! it's all in your mouth..saves the mess! haha! Sweet crust filled with orangey zesty custard and to top it all off is the fruit itself..Little petite desert for all at my uncle's house =).

Hahaha my cousin is having a good time with it! one of my loyal fans! *smiles* hehe this proves that my food is edible hahaha and survived!

Daddy Daddy! Happy birthday! * weee*

Lookie lookie! It's daddy's birthday! well even though it was last year which I  forgot to post *oopps* hehe but better late than never =). As it was my father's birthday it was my duty to make the cake like the years  before, well at least when from when I started baking. Every year I would make cheese cake *everyone screams* but due to the fact that it's the same thing every year I wanted to test out what I have exposed to in the cake world!

I made chocolate cupcakes with chocolate ganache filling and and vanilla cake with orangey filling! wooo! to cover it all I could no resist but put cream cheese topping just to please my daddy =). It took me FOREVA! to finish it. My dad went to take a nap and woke up and said Still not ready yet ah? Well after much efforts my mini tower was ready =)

I know I know it kinda looks girly, well I only can do this for now =) I promise to make a more manly cake next year hahahah! enjoy!

Brownie and Friend Ice-Cream! =)

Hie everyone! Sorry for the much delayed updates =( due to the holidays and work pouring in excuses ^^. But I continued to bake through this holiday, just too lazy to update hahaha! I'M SORRY! but here is something to cheer everyone up =) Brownies! weee! and it's best best friend ice-cream *friend friend*

Nothing too fancy =) and the best thing when you feel a little down during the day. And no I don't stuff myself with it, but I stuff people haha! just kidding, it does bring me joy when the people enjoy what I make =) So this time I made walnut brownies, crisp on the outside and warm and gooey on the inside. Sadly I forgot to line the pan with paper so it was kinda stuck =(. That's why I couldn't take pictures of it nicely squared.

Then I discovered our friend ice-cream in the freezer! *eyes glow with joy* it was the only way I could make the brownie look a little nicer and it's just a great combo! Topped with a bit more walnuts =).

Orange Meringue TaRts!

Aaaaaahhhhhhh! Joys of sweet tarts! Doesn't it just makes you smile by just looking at it? Thanks to my wonderful boss *hi boss!* who gave me a super duper pastry book I was able to expand my love for baking beside production hehe =) Dum Dum Dum Dummmmmmmm I present to you Orange Meringue Tart!

The crust was crumbly and flaky just the way everyone likes it, well at least the people who ate it, but it was still strong enough to hold both the orange curd and meringue topping! yum yum =) The best part is, I think, it's a less fattening tart! Because meringue is just egg whites and it consist of oranges, took me 8 oranges to make the curd so it was BURSTING with vitamin C! Some might say that meringue might not be that safe to eat but I think it's totally fine after I burnt it a little. It gives it a crispy layer outside but still soft inside like burnt marshmallow! Awesome isn't it? Unfortunately it turns soggy after it goes into the fridge over night =( but it should be fine if it's left outside a day or two.

Sadly I think it's too sweet for my first try, I shall chop some sugar away next time!, but it was still pweeeety! Oh and zester shall be my new best friend if I can afford one =) no no for bitter orange peel There's still much that can be improved in this, still a first good try .White mice mice didn't get any =( sad for him, got sick so I made orange juice instead hahaha didn't know I made this too hehehe shhhhh! next time la ^^. For now more pictures!

Pain Creme! ^^

It's bread again! *yay for all bread lovers* I experimented on a new bread recipe I found which was very interesting. NO butter , NO egg but it has cream as fat substitutes hence the name Pain Creme =) sounds so fancy eh? No it's not PAIN CREAM lol! Well it might do some pain to your diet but believe me no pain on ur taste buds! hehe

Looks so yummy! 

Well for those who really knows bread I shall say that I kinda failed this one.. It came out a little flat..I think I killed all the poof-ness by cutting the lines wrongly but still it has a strong taste to it with rich textures =) a little dense but still good =). Best tasting one I've made so far...don"t have to put anything and it's yummy on it's own! hahaha sounds like the gardenia advert LOL!

So..to save it and make it more yummy I've made it into something else! =)

Ya I know it's kinda ugly but just to cheer my sister's lunch a bit I made her a sandwich "bento" konon...got some nice cutter thingys thank to mammy =)! hehehe more cute stuff to come later on! It's quite healthy..egg cheese, sausage, cucumber and tomato!

bruschetta! 

Of course I made something for everyone else and my white mice too! =) my version of "bruschetta" obviously it's not the real thing but yeah still taste good! A layer of cheese covered with tomato chunks, some salt and pepper,,woah la! =) then I toasted it for a bit to make it crunchy..Ooooo hehe! It's the only way I could get my white mice to eat more veggie and it's good isn't it? Anyway that's all for now! Shall be back soon!!!! =)
